Spring has settled in and it has brought all the blooming flowers with it. Merano, one of the greenest cities in Europe, is ready to celebrate the new season with a beautiful Flower Festival. From the 27th\u00a0to the 29th\u00a0of April, the streets of Merano will be bursting with flowers and plants which will colour and perfume this South Tyrolese city.<\/p>\n

For two days and a half you will live in an enchanted world, learn more about nature and have the opportunity to convert your lifestyle into a greener one.<\/p>\n

WHERE IS IT?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The main stage of the Flower Festival will be\u00a0Piazza Terme<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Parco delle Terme<\/b>, where there will be a flower and plant market exhibition, with\u00a0free admission<\/b>, and a rich programme of related events.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

WHAT CAN I DO?<\/b><\/h5>\n

On the first day, the\u00a027th\u00a0of April<\/b>, there will an opening ceremony. After all it\u2019s its first edition! At 12:30 pm a \u201cFlower Aperitivo<\/b>\u201d will be served, accompanied with the music of Aluna Quartet. Then, a\u00a0Flower Show Cooking<\/b>\u00a0with Jakob Haller, a chef with experience in restaurants in several countries, including NOMA in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

This feast for the eyes keeps going on the\u00a028th\u00a0<\/b>with a market where you will be able to find flowers and plants from the best greenhouses in Italy.<\/p>\n

Several\u00a0workshops for both adults and kids<\/b>\u00a0will also take place. You will learn how to live a greener life with smaller environmental footprint!<\/p>\n

During the festival there will be one more market that you shouldn\u2019t leave unvisited: Saturday\u2019s Traditional Market. A place to get to know more about, not only the products of the earth, but original handicraft goods as well.<\/p>\n

Overall, a suggestion for a different weekend, in a city surrounded by nature, that will please both kids and grownups.<\/p>\n

The festival also counts with a\u00a0talk<\/b>\u00a0on the theme of \u201cvertical gardens\u201d, which will happen on the beautiful Castel Trauttmansdorff\u2019s Gardens, with more than 80 botanical environments with flowers from all the world.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

SHOPPING IN E-BIKE<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The weekend of Merano Flower Festival will also be the launching moment for the new project \u201cShopping in e-bike\u201d<\/strong>. From the end of April it will be possible to rent e-bikes in the city and, by following the instructions of a local guide, visit the farms in the neighbouring villages where it\u2019s possible to buy local delicacies: marmalade, cheeses, fruit juices, eggs, milk, biscuits and many things more.<\/p>\n

To support this project, Merano\u2019s Tourism Office has invited an artist and a craftsman who have collaborated in the creation of \u201cNest\u201d – a shopping bag that has a dual function. First, it\u2019s a comfortable coating for the e-bike basket, where you can store the purchased products in special compartments and then it transforms itself into an equally convenient bag to take the goods home.<\/p>\n

Merano Flower Festival<\/b>\u00a0related events will also take place in other South Tyrolese cities like\u00a0Naturno<\/b>, 14th\u00a0and 15th\u00a0April, with the theme \u201cCulture in the Garden\u201d; in\u00a0Tirolo<\/b>, on the 1st\u00a0of May, with \u201cA table in Tirol\u201d and in\u00a0Scena<\/b>, from the 4th\u00a0of May to the 6th, dedicated to the \u201cmarket of the herbs and the flavours of the farm\u201d.<\/p>\n
